Superbowl Sunday
It's Superbowl Sunday! Wooohooo! Honestly, I didn't even know who the two teams were who are playing until I asked my 7 year old nephew. Shows how much I'm into the event this year, huh. Well I usually am more into it but this year I'm just more about well....anything else I guess. Football hasn't made the cut I guess. I did a little bit of research online and the two teams playing are the Pittsburg Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals. Kickoff is at approximately 6:28pm. The game will be in Tampa, Florida. Good luck to both teams and I will post and update on the outcome!

Valentine's Day
With Valentine's Day rapidly approaching, I figured I should discuss the subject. I've never been a fan of Valentine's Day myself but now that I work in a school it can be kind of fun, especially with the little ones and all the cute little Valentine cards and yummy candy that gets exchanged. Another reason that I've become a fan of holidays is because they remind me of my epilepsy....I know that sounds absolutely absurd but it's true. When I was first diagnosed I always felt like a burden. I was a little immobile and was still having numerous seizures and people had to do just about everything for me. So when the holidays came and my family all got together I felt like I was just being dragged along like an annoying kid that someone got stuck babysitting. Then for Christmas of '07 I was seizure free. My last seizure was two evenings before. Of course people didn't know that it would be my last for such a long time and I myself was expecting one too but I actually got to enjoy myself for once. So ever since then I've just been so happy around all holidays because I'm reminded by how long I've gone seizure free! I know, I'm wierd, but it works for me.
So anyways, Valentine's Day should be fun this year. I'm not sure yet what I'll be doing outside of work but we'll be having a little party with the kiddos at the school I work at. I hope that everyone enjoys their holiday. I know that I will!

Snow Day + 2-Hour Delay!!!
So, I work in an elementary school and yesterday was a snow day and then today we had an unexpected 2-hour delay because of the ice. So basically I've had the last day and a half off just by chance....I'm so psyched! So it's given me time to work on this new blog of mine, got some shopping done and even put a little R&R in too. I hope that people are enjoying my new blog. One comment that I've received is that I seem to be very "upbeat." I was very flattered by that. When I first received my diagnosis of E I let it bring me down a little. I let it define me. I don't EVER want to let that happen again. E may be a part of me but it is not who I am! There is so much more to me. More than half the people I know don't even know that I have epilepsy. It's not that I'm trying to keep it from them because I don't care if the whole world knows. I've just learned that some people can't help but judge you once they find out something about you. I've unfortunately lost a few good friends since becoming epileptic and I don't want that to happen again unless it has to. I'm not ready for that just yet.
Well I can see that I'm just rambling on now and my topic has gone from my relaxing snow day to my pitiful memories of losing friends to epilepsy so I think I'll just call it a night and stop here! Plus it's Thursday night which is my absolute favorite night on t.v. and my dvr is recording my favorite shows. Please leave me some comments. I'll post again A.S.A.P.

National Walk for Epilepsy 2009
On March 28, 2009, I will be attending the National Walk for Epilepsy in D.C. This will be my first year attending and I am so excited! A good friend of mine, who is also my coworker will be driving me down the night before. It is about a 7 hour drive for us so it should be quite the trip. Another mutual friend of ours will also be coming and we have the support of my family and numerous friends as well. Luckily I already have many people sponsoring me and others who have pledged to do so. I plan to do a more local epilepsy walk coming up in May this year but my focus us going to be on the D.C. walk so that is where my fundraising will be focused. My team name is Vitality and so far there are just 3 team members including me but I have so much other support as well! Please check out my link for personal page. I could use your support!

Hello & Welcome!
Hello All!
It's a beautifully cold and snowy night here in my home town. I work in and Elementary School and today was a snow day (woo woo) !!! I've been home all day listening to music and planning my upcoming trip to D. C. in March for the National Walk for Epilepsy. I can't wait. I hope there will be lots of people there. So as for seizures for me, which I'm sure most of you are wondering, I haven't had one in a long time! It's been over a year now. These meds are really working and I'm actually driving and having a somewhat normal life. The side effects can be difficult to handle but I'd take med side effects over a seizure any day! So, since this is my first post, I guess I want to know what people want to see on here. I plan to add some links, keep people updated on what's going on in the E community as much as I can and other than that, this will just be a normal blog, letting you know how my life with epilepsy is. If you have a blog too, please let me know 'cause I wanna check it out!
